Anti-Bullying Campaign

Bullying has been a constant issue almost everywhere and it’ll continue being an issue if we don’t take action. In 2018, UNICEF revealed that 70% of Egyptian children aged 13-15 are victims of bullying, whether it’s physically, emotionally or online. Bullying is when a person misuses their power and uses it to harm others, it can take multiple forms, including threatening, spreading rumors, physical or verbal assault. Most people think that only children can be bullies, but actually that’s not true, adults can also be bullies, just like children and teenagers can be.

The thing about bullying is that a lot of people don’t take it seriously, which is one of the reasons why people are still being bullied to this day, especially online, people think that because they’re hiding behind their screens they can do anything without facing the consequences. They’re like hunters with cell phones. The pictures below are just a few examples of the online bullying that occurs everyday.

Bullying could be prevented if people were more educated about it and how to prevent it. There are a lot of ways to help reduce the bullying phenomenon, some of them are

  1. Educating children and giving them a clear definition of what bullying is.
  2. Stand up for people who are being bullied.
  3. Encourage schools and companies to establish rules and policies about bullying and the correct way to treat each other.

One of the biggest issues with bullying is that victims rarely speak up. They feel ashamed and embarrassed and they start believing that they deserve to be bullied. So, if you know/are a person or a child that is being bullied don’t hesitate and contact the child helpline at 16000
