While it’s not quite Christmas yet, December is right around the corner and you know what that means; holiday movies! Every year there’s always new Christmas flicks coming out – but there’s a few classics that just can’t be beat. So, here’s a list of our top picks of all the old – but gold Christmas movies!
1.Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
While this movie has been remade countless times, the 1964 cartoon remains unmatched. It’s childlikeness and animation style really makes you feel the Christmas spirit
2. A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
There’s a reason this one plays on TV every year, and if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend you do. The delightful cast of Peanuts that we all know and love with the holiday jazz track of this cartoon is simply a delight.
3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
Don’t get me wrong, I love the version of the Grinch starring Jim Carrey, but this is the original classic! Whether you opt for the animated or live action version, you’ll love the movie nonetheless.
4. Home Alone (1990)
I’m pretty sure we’ve all seen this one, but it never gets old. Every time I watch it, I’m always struck by Kevin McCallister’s cleverness (and I realize that I wouldn’t have lasted a second). Definitely on our must watch list.
5. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
This movie was probably made before your parents were even born, but it remains timeless. A story about a struggling man during the holidays, and an angel sent to show him how life would’ve been without him – you may not be sold, but trust me, it’s a movie you should watch.
6. Love Actually (2003)
A younger movie compared to some of the ones on this list, Love Actually is a staple christmas movie that’s been widely loved by all. It tells the story of many romances, all intertwining together in the end. Truly one of my favorites.
7. The Holiday (2006)
Another newer one, The Holiday is a perfect Christmas rom-com. Truly everything you could ever ask for, the slow building of relationships, just the right amount of cheesiness, a great side plot, this is a film I watch all year round – not just for the holidays (pun intended).
While this list could go on and on, I think this is a good start for most. I hope at least one of these movies is to your liking, and that your Christmas is as perfect as a movie scene.
